Ashes at Sea

The Scattering of cremated remains at sea has been an attractive alternative to other forms of interment for many generations and for many reasons:

  • Return to Nature
  • Wishes of the Deceased loved one
  • Love of the everlasting Sea
  • Associated with Religious beliefs
  • Nautical background
  • Life Experiences / association with specific areas of the Solent

These are just some frequently sited reasons for selecting scattering for the final disposition of cremated remains.

Our Ashes Scattering at Sea Service

The Ceremony
We will cruise to your agreed location (View Locations, where the skipper will drop anchor (assuming this is possible) or hold the boat in as sheltered a position for your family ceremony to commence.
The pouring of the ashes or placing of the bio urn can be carried out from the bathing platform at the rear of the boat (see our safety procedure).

Two people will be undertake this whilst attached to the boat via safety lines / life jacket. Special words of comfort and remembrance can be accompanied by your own music (remember to bring your iPhone/pad or cd) which can be played over the boats sound system.

The bio urns usually take about 3 minutes to gently sink away which allows time for private reflections and floral tributes to be placed in the water.

Our experience is that many families like to hold joint ashes scatterings for their deceased parents either using individual journeys end biodegradable urns or a little more expensive the dual chamber biodegradable urn

Certificate of Scattering
We provide all families following the scattering of ashes a certificate showing the Latitude and longitude of the exact location of the ceremony in order that you may revisit on future anniversaries

"Wakes" and Celebrations
We hold a full Alcohol Licence (2003 Act) and can provide you a full Champagne life celebration including an M&S Executive Buffet agreed in advance
